Amelia is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who provides general gynaecology care and has special interests in early pregnancy, menstrual problems, hysteroscopy and open and laparoscopic (key hole) surgery.  

Amelia provides care for women in her private practice at the Portland Hospital. She also works in the NHS at Homerton University Hospital where she is lead for early pregnancy. She graduated with honours from the University of Leeds in 2004 and completed her specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology training in the Yorkshire deanery. She was appointed a Consultant in 2014.

Regionally Amelia is the lead trainer for hysteroscopy. Nationally she is a facilitator and lecturer in hysteroscopy for the British Society of Endoscopy and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

She holds two clinical excellence awards.

Amelia is dedicated to her clinical practice and to patients seeking sympathetic individualised care. She is able to offer a uniquely personal service to support patients and ensure they receive the best possible individualised care they require.

Amelia lives with her 2 children and 3 hens. She is a keen musician playing the violin and piano. She runs half marathons and grows vegetables on her allotment as hobbies.

Gynaecology

Amelia offers gynaecological care to women and girls from puberty onwards. She has a special interest in gynaecological scanning, advanced hysteroscopy, and open and

laparoscopic (key hole) surgery for benign conditions.

She also specialises in looking after women with bleeding problems and postmenopausal complications where she is able to offer a one-stop service which includes consultation, examination and ultrasound in one appointment.

In clinic, Amelia can perform routine well-woman reviews including (but not limited to) cervical screening, sexual health screens, contraceptive advice including coil and implant insertions, ultrasound scans. She also sees women with problematic periods, polycystic ovaries, ovarian cysts, fibroids, menopause.

Early Pregnancy and Obstetrics

If you are pregnant, Amelia would be delighted to see you for early pregnancy care and investigations.

Amelia has a special interest in early pregnancy complications including miscarriage, recurrent miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy. She undertook research and advanced ultrasound training at Kings College Hospital, London. She has numerous publications and has delivered oral presentations nationally and internationally in problems of early pregnancy.
Beyond 24 weeks, should you wish to deliver at The Portland Hospital, Amelia will recommend a trusted colleague to take over your care, as she does not deliver babies privately.

Fees

Amelia is recognised by all major UK and International medical insurers.

If you have private medical insurance and we have a direct billing agreement with them, we can invoice your insurance company directly. If you are self-funded, we will invoice you directly, and expect settlement on the day of your visit. Most commonly charged fees are as follows:

Other fees are available on request. You will remain liable for any fees should your insurer refuse to provide cover.

Should you need an operation and are self-funded, The Portland Hospital offers fixed-price packages, and Amelia and her anaesthetist are able to provide a quotation to carry out the operation; this allows you to cost any surgical treatment you may require.
